Message	spray some hair spray on the knob and let it soak in for a couple seconds, then try to wipe/scrub it away. many inks are soluble in hairspray, but the hairspray is often less extreme of a solvent than rubbing alcohol in case you are afraid the alcohol may strip some paint as well as the sharpie.
